2026 Kia Niro

Kia Australia has confirmed the Niro is discontinued locally, with the model already pulled from the brand's website last week. A facelifted version has been revealed in Korea, but it won't be coming here.

The Niro Hybrid's role will be taken over by the Seltos Hybrid, due in the latter part of 2026. The Niro EV's replacement is the EV3.

Sales had already fallen off a cliff. Only 454 Niros were registered in Australia last year, down from 1455 the year prior. A premium price positioning in a segment dominated by more affordable rivals made it a tough sell, even as the model remained popular in South Korea and the UK.

The updated Niro, known as the 'New Niro', gets revised styling, new alloy wheels, and a dual 12.3-inch infotainment setup. It'll be offered in Korea from March, and will reach Europe and the UK in time. Australia simply isn't part of that plan.

What's replacing the Niro in Kia Australia's lineup

Anyone still keen on a Niro should move fast. Once remaining stock clears, it's gone for good.
