Aston Martin Valhalla Spider hits 350km/h with its roof off

The open-top Valhalla keeps the coupe’s 793kW plug-in hybrid V8 and 2.5-second 0-100km/h time, with global deliveries from the third quarter of 2027 and Australian details yet to be confirmed.

Key takeaways

  • Same 793kW V8 plug-in hybrid and 350km/h top speed as the coupe
  • Standard fabric roof limits top speed to 200km/h, roof off allows 350km/h
  • Global deliveries from Q3 2027, Australian pricing and allocation unconfirmed

Aston Martin has revealed the Valhalla Spider, an open-top version of its mid-engined plug-in hybrid supercar. The brand says it’s the fastest open-top production car it has built, matching the coupe’s 2.5-second 0-100km/h time and 350km/h top speed.

The Spider makes its first public appearance at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, held ahead of the SEMA show.

Unusually for a convertible, the Spider is quickest with no roof at all. The full 350km/h is available with the roof removed or with the optional carbon-fibre hardtop fitted, while the standard fabric roof drops the limit to 200km/h.

The fabric roof is folded and removed by hand. A wind deflector, also fitted manually, reduces buffeting in the cabin, and the engine air snorkel has been reshaped and raised 35mm. Aston Martin has recalibrated the active aerodynamics and stability control to adjust automatically for roof-on and roof-off driving.

Valhalla Spider powertrain and performance

Nothing changes mechanically from the Valhalla coupe. A heavily reworked 4.0-litre twin-turbo flat-plane-crank V8, based on a Mercedes-AMG engine, sits behind the cabin and makes 609kW and 868Nm on its own.

It drives the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with a built-in electric motor and an electronic limited-slip differential. Two more motors power the front axle and handle torque vectoring, with all three drawing from a 6.1kWh battery.

That output puts the Spider up against open-top plug-in hybrid rivals from Ferrari and Lamborghini, including the Ferrari 849 Testarossa Spider and the Lamborghini Revuelto with its removable roof panels.

Inside, new Touring seats are standard. Aston Martin says they’re more comfortable and make it easier to climb in and out with the roof fitted, while the coupe’s more aggressive carbon-fibre seats remain available.

The dihedral doors still swing upwards but now use frameless glass, and Aston Martin says the opening mechanism has been refined for smoother operation.

Is the Valhalla Spider coming to Australia?

The Valhalla coupe is confirmed for Australia, with local pricing reported at close to $2 million before on-roads. Aston Martin hasn’t confirmed Spider pricing, allocation or timing for the Australian market.

Build numbers haven’t been announced either. The coupe is limited to 999 cars worldwide.

Watch for Aston Martin Australia to confirm Spider pricing and local allocation ahead of first customer deliveries in the third quarter of 2027.
