What powers the new performance hybrid

The i-FORCE MAX system pairs a 3.4-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 with a single electric motor sitting between the engine and 10-speed automatic. A 1.8kWh nickel metal hydride battery lives at the rear, which has forced Toyota to relocate the spare wheel.
Combined output lands at 341kW and 790Nm. That's a 114kW jump in power and 90Nm of extra torque over the 3.3-litre turbo-diesel V6 still used across the rest of the LandCruiser 300 range, making this the most powerful LandCruiser ever sold in Australia.
The same i-FORCE MAX hardware already does duty in the Toyota Tundra full-size pickup. Braked towing capacity stays at 3500kg.

Equipment and off-road hardware
Both hybrid variants run full-time four-wheel drive and switch to electric power steering in place of the diesel's hydraulic setup. Buyers also get an upgraded 200V/1500W rear auxiliary power socket capable of running small appliances, plus a 40/20/40-split folding rear seat.

GR Sport keeps its serious off-road kit, including front and rear locking differentials and electronically controlled E-KDSS suspension. Sahara ZX leans more towards on-road comfort with a Torsen limited-slip rear differential.
Inside, both grades come with leather-accented trim, heated and ventilated front and outboard rear seats, a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 14-speaker JBL audio system. Sahara ZX adds a dual rear-seat entertainment system. Both are five-seaters only, so buyers needing seven seats will need to step across to the Lexus LX700h, which starts at $199,800 before on-roads.
How it stacks up against rivals
Toyota's hybrid LandCruiser arrives just as the full-size off-road segment heats up. The Denza B8 plug-in hybrid has already beaten it to market, priced between $91,000 and $97,990 with 425kW, 760Nm and seven seats. Mitsubishi's reborn Pajero is also due before the end of the year. The hybrid LandCruiser comfortably out-powers the V8-engined Nissan Patrol it shares showroom floors with.
Capped-price servicing is set at $450 per visit for five years or 100,000km and Toyota's five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty applies as standard.
For buyers who want the most capable LandCruiser money can buy, the performance hybrid lifts the ceiling on what the 300 Series can do, but it also pushes the price tag firmly into Lexus territory.
