Key takeaways
- Vision BMW Alpina concept debuts 15 May at Villa d'Este
- First Alpina project since BMW Group took ownership in January
- Long gran coupe design with bespoke front and rear lighting
BMW Alpina has dropped a teaser image of the Vision BMW Alpina, its first concept since becoming a BMW Group sub-brand in January 2026. The image was sent to Alpina customers by email and is deliberately low-resolution, so the silhouette is about all you get. The full reveal happens on 15 May at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on Lake Como.
A bespoke gran coupe shape
The teaser points to a long, sweeping gran coupe with proportions closer to the discontinued BMW 8 Series than anything currently in the range. Front and rear lighting signatures look bespoke, not borrowed from any existing BMW family. That hints at greater visual separation from donor cars than past Alpinas managed.

Max Missoni, BMW's head of Middle, Luxury Class and ALPINA design, is leading the project. Former Rolls-Royce Coachbuild designer Alex Innes, the man behind the Boat Tail and La Rose Noire Droptail, joined Alpina in 2024 and is believed to have contributed.
What it means for the brand
"Vision" in the name means production is not guaranteed. The first new-era Alpina road cars are expected to be based on the 7 Series and next-generation X7. BMW Group R&D chief Joachim Post says the brand will focus on speed, comfort and luxury rather than chasing M-style performance.
