2026 Geely EX2 lands from $26,490 as Australia's second-cheapest EV

Priced from $26,490 plus on-road costs, the 2026 Geely EX2 undercuts every EV in Australia except the BYD Atto 1, and it does it with rear-wheel drive and multi-link rear suspension.

Geely Auto Australia has confirmed pricing for the 2026 Geely EX2, a small electric hatch that starts at $26,490 plus on-road costs. Two variants, Complete and Inspire, make up the local range. Cars reach Geely dealerships nationwide from late July 2026.

Geely says the EX2 was the world's bestselling small EV in 2025 and a national dealer roadshow has already generated pre-orders ahead of launch.

Geely EX2 Complete$26,490
Geely EX2 Inspire$30,990

Both figures are recommended retail prices.

That $26,490 entry point makes the EX2 Australia's second-cheapest EV when it arrives, behind only the BYD Atto 1. The Atto 1 Essential lists at $23,990 and the Atto 1 Premium at $27,990, while the MG4 Urban and GAC Aion UT both sit at $31,990 driveaway.

Buyers who order and take delivery between 12 July and 31 August 2026 get a complimentary 7kW home wall charger and a free premium paint upgrade worth $600. Geely is also offering a 0.68% comparison rate over a 36-month finance term. All three offers carry conditions, including exclusions for fleet and government buyers.

Both batteries use liquid cooling which should help longevity through an Australian summer.

Rear-wheel drive at hatchback money

The chassis is where the EX2 separates itself. Both variants drive the rear wheels and run multi-link independent rear suspension, where most rivals in this price bracket use a front-drive layout and a torsion beam.

Australian cars get a ride and handling tune developed with Geely Technology Europe, formerly the Lotus Tech Innovation Centre. The rear-drive layout also frees up steering rack travel, giving the EX2 a 41 degree steering angle and a 9.9m turning circle.

Space, safety and tech

Clever packaging is the other pitch. The EX2 carries a 70L frunk, a 375L boot, 28L of under-seat storage and more than 30 storage spaces throughout the cabin.

Both grades get a 14.6-inch touchscreen with built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus an 8.8-inch driver display. Standard safety on Complete includes:

  • Seven airbags, including a centre airbag
  • Autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control
  • Blind spot detection and both front and rear cross traffic alert
  • Evasive manoeuvre assist and emergency lane keeping assist

Inspire adds 16-inch alloys, a power tailgate, heated front seats and steering wheel, wireless charging, a six-speaker stereo and a 360-degree camera. Geely has not confirmed an ANCAP rating.

Six colours are offered, with Moon White standard and five premium finishes at $600. Geely Connected Services goes live in August, with eCall following via an over-the-air update in Q4.

Geely's $26,490 headline is aimed squarely at BYD

The Complete's $26,490 is a positioning number, not a volume number. With a limiting 60kW and 252km, it pushes Geely's real volume onto the $30,990 Inspire, where 345km and 85kW finally back up the chassis.

The hardware is the part BYD and MG cannot match at the price, so expect the response to come as driveaway campaigns on the Atto and Dolphin ranges rather than a list price cut, because neither rival can re-engineer a rear-drive platform on this timeline.

Pre-orders are already stacking up off the back of the roadshow, and stock lands in weeks rather than months.

The question is whether buyers walk in for the $26,490 headline and walk out $4,500 further up the range, chasing the 345km they actually need.
