2026 Cupra Formentor arrives in Australia
Cupra Australia has confirmed pricing and specifications for the updated 2026 Cupra Formentor, with showroom stock due this month and first customer deliveries beginning in late May. Five variants cover a wide spectrum, from a new entry-level mild hybrid to a 287kW five-cylinder flagship.
The range now opens at $53,990 nationally drive-away, a lower entry point than before, courtesy of a brand-new S variant built around 48V mild-hybrid technology.
2026 Cupra Formentor pricing
| Variant | Power | RRP |
| Formentor S | 110kW mild hybrid | $49,990 |
| Formentor V | 150kW AWD | $57,490 |
| Formentor VZe | 200kW PHEV | $68,990 |
| Formentor VZx | 245kW AWD | $69,990 |
| Formentor VZ5 | 287kW AWD | $94,990 |
The Formentor S pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with CUPRA's 48V mild-hybrid system through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, making it the most approachable Formentor yet.
One step up, the Formentor V gains 10kW to reach 150kW through its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, with AWD retained.
Gen2 PHEV and performance upgrades
The biggest news in the 2026 Cupra Formentor range is the reworked VZe. CUPRA's second-generation plug-in hybrid system brings power up to 200kW, adds DC fast-charging for the first time, and nearly doubles battery capacity. Electric-only range grows from approximately 50km to more than 100km claimed, which makes a material difference to daily running costs for most Australian drivers.
The Formentor VZx also gains meaningful improvements. Output rises 17kW to 245kW, and a torque-vectoring rear differential joins the AWD setup, giving the performance-focused variant sharper, more precise handling.
Sitting above everything is the Formentor VZ5, powered by a 2.5-litre five-cylinder producing 287kW, an engine it shares with the Audi RS3. It's currently available to pre-order at $94,990 RRP, with deliveries expected between December 2026 and March 2027.

Redesigned inside and out
Every 2026 Cupra Formentor gets CUPRA's revised exterior design, which includes a sculpted shark-nose front end, triangular daytime running lights and an illuminated CUPRA badge integrated into the redesigned rear. New alloy wheel designs feature across most variants.
Inside, the upgrade is equally thorough. Standard equipment across the range now includes:
- 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Backlit climate and volume controls
- Supersport steering wheel with integrated engine-start and drive mode buttons
- Dinamica upholstery (S and V variants)
- Driver's power seat with memory function
- Optional Sennheiser premium audio
Buyers wanting to push further can opt for the Extreme Package, available on the VZe at $6,500 or the VZx at $7,000. It adds Sabelt CUP bucket seats with carbon-fibre backs, Enceladus Grey upholstery, Akebono (VZx) or Brembo (VZe) performance brakes, matrix cascading headlights, and dark gloss interior accents replacing the standard copper trim.
CUPRA Australia Brand Director Jerome Figuiere said the update is a major evolution for one of the brand's most recognised models, with the new drivetrains, design language and equipment upgrades pointing clearly to where CUPRA is headed.
With a lower entry price, a dramatically improved PHEV and real performance gains throughout, the 2026 Cupra Formentor is a stronger proposition than the car it replaces across every variant.
