GWM Cannon Hi4-T PHEV undercuts every plug-in hybrid ute in Australia
Two grades, Lux and Ultra, start from $50,990 driveaway for private buyers, with a $2000 launch bonus cutting that to $48,990 until October 31. Deliveries begin mid-October.

GWM has priced its new Cannon Hi4-T plug-in hybrid ute from $50,990 driveaway for private buyers, making it the cheapest PHEV ute on sale in Australia. Pre-orders are open now, with the first vehicles due in dealerships from mid-October.
Launch offers running until October 31 bring the entry price down further, to $48,990 driveaway for private buyers and $47,990 for ABN holders.
The Cannon Hi4-T sits below the larger Cannon Alpha Hi4-T, making GWM the only brand in Australia with two different plug-in hybrid utes. Its nearest rival on price is the JAC Hunter PHEV at $49,988 before on-roads, while the BYD Shark 6 and Ford Ranger PHEV both sit higher.

Until October 31, buyers can take either a $2000 driveaway bonus or a $2000 fuel card, but not both. The offer applies to vehicles bought and delivered by that date. Premium paint adds $595.
Plug-in hybrid powertrain and towing
A 180kW/380Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine teams with a 130kW/495Nm electric motor for combined outputs of 310kW and 750Nm, driving through a nine-speed hybrid automatic.
The 33.1kWh LFP battery gives a claimed electric-only range of 115km on the NEDC cycle, or closer to 90km under the more realistic WLTP test. Official fuel use is 2.4L/100km. DC fast charging runs at up to 110kW, taking the battery from 30% to 80% in 18 minutes.
Unlike some electrified utes, it keeps a mechanical 4WD system with a low-range transfer case, electronic rear diff lock and Snow, Mud and Sand modes, plus a dedicated towing mode.
Braked towing capacity is 3500kg and payload is 835kg. The 6400kg gross combined mass means the Lux can carry only around 375kg when towing the full 3500kg, so heavy towers should check their loads.
Vehicle-to-load is standard, with 230V outlets in the tub supplying up to 6kW.
