Lexus has revealed the TZ, an all-new three-row electric SUV that could land in Australia as the brand's first family-sized BEV. Built on the same underpinnings as the Toyota Highlander EV and Subaru Getaway, the 2027 Lexus TZ packs a 300kW dual-motor setup, more than 530km of WLTP range, and a luxury cabin Lexus is calling a "Driving Lounge". Lexus Australia has confirmed it's currently assessing the TZ for local introduction.
2027 Lexus TZ specs and performance
The TZ runs a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with 300kW combined output and a claimed 0-100km/h time of 5.4 seconds. A 95.82kWh battery delivers more than 530km of WLTP range, and DC fast charging at 150kW takes the pack from 10 to 80 per cent in around 35 minutes. A smaller 76.96kWh battery is also expected, mirroring options offered on the related Toyota Highlander EV.

Cabin and tech

Inside the TZ leans hard into the Driving Lounge concept. Second-row captain's chairs get power-adjustable ottomans, ventilation and heating, while a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system features as standard. The dashboard pairs a 14-inch touchscreen with a digital driver display, and sustainable trim materials include forged Shikoku bamboo and bio-based UltraSuede.
Dynamic Rear Steering offers up to four degrees of rear-wheel steer, and a Rear Comfort drive mode coordinates braking and torque distribution to limit pitch and roll for back-seat passengers.
Will the 2027 Lexus TZ come to Australia?
Lexus Australia hasn't committed to a local launch, but the door is open. A spokesperson said the brand "continually reviews opportunities to enhance our local lineup and is currently assessing the TZ for potential introduction".
The TZ will be built and sold in Japan from winter 2026, which means right-hand drive production is locked in. That's a significant green light for Australia, especially given the related Toyota Highlander EV has already been ruled out by Toyota Australia.
If the TZ reaches local showrooms, it would be Lexus's first three-row electric SUV here and an EV alternative to the petrol-powered Lexus LX.
