Hyundai Staria goes hybrid for 2027 with an electric van to follow
The refreshed 2027 Hyundai Staria and Staria Load arrive with a new 180kW hybrid option from $53,490, plus a flagship Lounge variant and an all-electric van confirmed for later in 2026.

Hyundai Australia has confirmed pricing and specifications for the updated 2027 Staria and Staria Load, with the biggest news being the addition of a hybrid powertrain to both ranges. Diesel and petrol models are at dealers now, with hybrid variants arriving in June.
The new 1.6-litre turbo-hybrid system produces 180kW combined - more than the 130kW diesel but short of the 200kW V6 - and pairs with a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. Fuel consumption figures haven't been released yet, but the identical drivetrain in the Kia Carnival uses 5.8L/100km on the combined cycle, so expect similar numbers.

A 160kW all-electric Staria Load is also confirmed for the second half of 2026, with a 84kWh battery and 2,000kg braked towing capacity. Pricing is yet to be announced.
Powertrain specs
| Specs | Diesel | Petrol | Hybrid | Electric |
| Output | 130kW | 200kW | 180kW (combined) | 160kW |
| Transmission | 8-speed auto FWD | 8-speed auto FWD | 6-speed auto FWD | Single-speed FWD |

| Braked towing | 2,500kg | 2,500kg | 0kg | 2,000kg |
Note: the hybrid carries a zero braked towing rating, which will rule it out for buyers who need to tow.
2027 pricing (before on-road costs)
| Model | Price |
| Staria Load diesel | $49,990 |
| Staria Load hybrid | $53,490 |
| Staria Load Premium hybrid | $61,240 |
| Staria diesel or V6 petrol | $54,300 |
| Staria Lounge hybrid | $73,740 |

The Staria range has also been reshuffled. The previous Elite and Highlander grades are gone, replaced by a new flagship Lounge - a seven-seat hybrid-only variant that adds Nappa leather (in black, burgundy or beige), heated and ventilated seats for the first two rows, a suede headliner, acoustic glass, privacy windows, and Digital Key 2.

Both ranges get a refreshed front end, a new 12.3-inch touchscreen running Hyundai's latest ccNC infotainment system with over-the-air updates, and keyless entry with push-button start as standard.
The Staria Load is now two-seat only - the five-seat configuration has been discontinued.
All models carry Hyundai's seven-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, with hybrid and EV batteries covered for eight years or 160,000km.
For buyers who don't need to tow and want lower running costs, the hybrid Staria Load is a genuinely compelling option - especially at $3,500 more than the diesel.
