Genesis has pulled the covers off the 2027 Genesis GV90, its first full-size flagship SUV, at a reveal in San Francisco. The electric seven-seater is tipped to reach Australia in early 2027, squaring up against the Bentley Bentayga, Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
It is the biggest and most expensive vehicle Genesis has built, and the first of the brand's top-tier '90-series' models locked in for our market.
Coach doors and a world-first roof airbag
The headline act is the Neolun Arch Gate, which Genesis calls the world's first independently opening hidden B-pillar coach doors. Front and rear doors swing open to face each other with no pillar between them, for limousine-style access.
Genesis says the body still meets its highest safety standards, using high-strength steel beams and a concealed roll cage 1.5 times thicker than usual.
There are 12 airbags on board, including what Genesis claims is a world-first roof airbag that covers the fixed glass roof in a rollover.

Inside the flagship
Buyers get a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, front seats that swivel a full 180 degrees to face the rear, and a 23.6-inch OLED screen that rises to 24.6 inches when parked.

The four-seat Executive Suite adds a fridge, tray tables and a heated wood veneer floor inspired by Korean ondol heating.
Australian price & release
Genesis Australia is yet to confirm local pricing or a firm on-sale date. Early reporting points to a launch in the first half of 2027, with a price above $200,000 and around $250,000 for the range-topping Neolun.
Even at that figure, the GV90 shapes as a value buy at the pointy end of the segment. A comparably specified Bentayga asks more than double.
Australia gets the Neolun coach-door version first. A seven-seat model with conventional swing doors is expected to follow, giving BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS buyers a more bespoke alternative.

Genesis says a local drive is coming later this year. The real question is whether Australia's luxury buyers are ready to spend Bentley-adjacent money on an electric badge that, for now, has no V8 answer.
