Key takeaways
- 2026 GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV gains range, speed and a price cut
- Electric-only range rises to 183km on NEDC testing
- On sale now at $52,990 driveaway in Australia
GWM has updated its flagship plug-in hybrid SUV just 12 months after launch fitting a revised powertrain, overhauled interior tech and a lower price tag. The 2026 GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV is available in Australian showrooms now at $52,990 driveaway, a $1,000 saving over the outgoing model's regular price.
At the heart of the update is GWM's next-generation Hi4 all-wheel-drive system. New front and rear electric motors (80kW and 170kW respectively) replace the previous 130kW/135kW setup and a four-speed hybrid transmission takes over from the old two-speed unit.

Combined system output stays at 321kW, but torque drops from 762Nm to 642Nm. Despite that reduction GWM claims the 0-100km/h sprint now takes 4.6 seconds, 0.3 seconds quicker than before.
Range and battery
The 35.4kWh ternary lithium-ion battery carries over unchanged, but powertrain efficiency gains push the claimed NEDC electric-only range to 183km, up from 180km. Combined range jumps more significantly, from roughly 1,000km to a quoted 1,183km.
That keeps the H6 GT PHEV ahead of key rivals including the Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid AWD (170km) and BYD Sealion 6 Extended Range (128km) for electric-only range.

Interior and tech upgrades
Inside the cabin mirrors changes already rolled out to the standard H6 PHEV. A larger 14.6-inch touchscreen running GWM's Coffee OS software replaces the old 12.3-inch unit, and the rotary gear selector has been swapped for a column-mounted shifter. That frees up console space for a relocated 50-watt wireless phone charger.

New drive modes for towing and dedicated 4WD use join the existing roster of Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Sand and Mud. Automatic high-beam assist, connected car telematics and a rear subwoofer rounding out the additions.
