The Zeekr 7X has become Australia's best-selling premium medium SUV with 973 April registrations putting the Chinese-built electric SUV ahead of the Tesla Model Y, Kia EV5 and Lexus NX in the Medium SUV Over $65,000 segment.
VFACTS data confirms the 7X led the segment by a clear margin, edging out the Model Y's 822 units and the Kia EV5's 794. Zeekr also reports a backlog of 2,500 new customer orders, suggesting the momentum has further to run.

Tesla Model Y outsold for the first time
April marks the first month the 7X has outsold the Tesla Model Y on monthly volume. Year to date the 7X sits third on Australia's EV sales charts behind the Model Y and BYD Sealion 7 with 2,698 deliveries since January.

Zeekr's total Australian sales are up 955% compared with the same period in 2025. The brand has delivered more than 3,900 examples of the 7X since its launch in August last year.

Network growth and what's next
Zeekr now operates 17 dealerships in Australia with two recent openings in Essendon (Victoria) and Gold Coast (Queensland). Three more showrooms are planned soon taking the count to 20.
At April's Beijing Motor Show, Zeekr confirmed two flagship SUVs for Australia - the Zeekr 9X is scheduled to potentially arrive late 2026 with the smaller 8X to follow.
For Australian buyers, the 7X has gone from new arrival to segment benchmark in nine months, and the order book suggests there is more growth still in front of it.
