Tesla has launched the Model Y L in Australia, making it the first export market outside China to receive the longer, three-row version of its best-selling SUV. Orders are open now, with test drives available at showrooms from today.
Priced at $74,900 before on-roads, the Model Y L sits $6000 above the five-seat Long Range AWD variant. It's offered in a single Premium Long Range AWD spec only.
Australian pricing (exc on-road costs):
- Model Y Premium RWD: $58,900
- Model Y Premium Long Range AWD: $68,900
- Model Y L Premium Long Range AWD: $74,900
- Model Y Performance AWD: $89,400

The L is 177mm longer overall than the standard Model Y, stretching to 4969mm, with a 150mm longer wheelbase. That extra length makes room for a 2+2+2 seating layout, with second-row captain's chairs featuring power adjustment, folding, heating, ventilation, and power armrests. The third row is heated and power-folding.
Key specs
- Dual-motor AWD: 378kW / 590Nm
- 0–100km/h: 5.0 seconds
- Top speed: 201km/h
- Range: 681km (WLTP)
- DC fast charging: up to 250kW
- Towing: 1588kg braked
- Cargo: 420L (seats up) / 2539L (all folded)
Notably, the Model Y L is the first Tesla in Australia to offer vehicle-to-load (V2L), powering external devices at up to 3.3kW via an adaptor. It also introduces adaptive suspension with Balanced and Rear Comfort modes, an 18-speaker sound system (up from 15), and ventilated wireless chargers, with the driver-side bumped to 50W.

At $74,900, it's the cheapest EV on sale in Australia with more than five seats, undercutting the VW ID. Buzz Pro LWB ($80,990), Denza D9 ($85,990), and Mercedes-Benz EQB250+ ($90,000).
For family buyers who've been waiting on a genuinely affordable six-seat EV, the wait is over.
