Key takeaways
- Nissan Patrol V8 production ends this August in Australia
- 5.6-litre V8 produces 298kW and 560Nm
- New V6 twin-turbo Y63 Patrol arrives later in 2026
Australians have one final shot at a new Nissan Patrol V8. Nissan has confirmed production of the 5.6-litre petrol Y62 ends this August, with the locally built Patrol Warrior by Premcar wrapping up soon after. Once stock runs dry, the V8 chapter closes for good.

Goodbye to the V8
The Y62 is the last Nissan Patrol to run the brand's 5.6-litre petrol V8, good for 298kW and 560Nm. Its replacement, the Y63, lands in Australia later this year with a 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo and a nine-speed auto. That swap ends more than a decade of V8 muscle in one of the country's most loved full-size off-roaders, and sharpens the rivalry with the diesel-only Toyota LandCruiser 300.

The Patrol is no newcomer here. It first arrived locally in 1961, and Nissan has since delivered more than 258,000 across five generations, building one of the most loyal 4WD followings in the country.
Nissan Oceania boss Steve Milette framed it plainly. "As we look ahead to the all-new to Australia Y63 later this year, the run-out of the Y62 represents a genuine 'last chance' moment for Australians who want to add a new V8 Patrol to their garage," he said.

Patrol Warrior by Premcar signs off too
The run-out also closes the book on the Warrior, engineered in Melbourne by Premcar. It builds on the Y62 platform with retuned suspension, extra ground clearance, all-terrain tyres on bespoke wheels and a bi-modal side-exit exhaust that stays quiet on the highway but barks under throttle. Each one is hand-finished and keeps Nissan's full factory warranty.

The current Y62 range is in Nissan dealers nationally now, backed by up to 10-year/300,000km cover under the Nissan MORE warranty. Pricing and availability vary by grade and dealer, and stock is finite.
When the last Y62 leaves the showroom, the badge moves to V6 power and the petrol V8 era is done.
