Explore the Nissan range

Nissan's performance arm Nismo is opening its first Australian Performance Centre at Nissan Ferntree Gully in Victoria with a target launch in the second half of 2026. The Melbourne site will become one of the first Nismo Performance Centres outside Japan, offering authentic parts, restoration support and direct access to expertise from Nissan's Omori factory in Yokohama.

The announcement landed in Sydney this week ahead of the GT-R Festival at Sydney Motorsport Park with global Nismo boss Yutaka Sanada in town to confirm Australia's place in the brand's expansion plan.

What the Nismo Performance Centre will offer

The Ferntree Gully site runs on a shop-within-a-shop concept. It will sell new Nismo vehicles, stock genuine Nismo performance parts, supply heritage parts and house factory-trained technicians known as Nismo Meisters. Heritage parts will be exclusive to these centres, alongside performance engine build menus and Nismo merchandise.

The Meisters are master technicians trained at the Omori factory in Yokohama, the spiritual home of the Nismo brand since 1984.

Focus on Skyline GT-R restoration

Initial restoration work will centre on the R32, R33 and R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R. That focus is no accident. Australia accounts for roughly 36 per cent of all R34 GT-R exports and around 20% of R33 GT-R exports as of 2026.

"Australia is a natural priority because of its mature performance culture, strong GT-R community and clear appetite for authentic Nismo heritage, performance parts, technical expertise and motorsport-driven experiences," said Sanada.

More Nismo Performance Centres planned for Australia

Melbourne is just the start. Nissan Australia aftersales director Michael Hill confirmed Sydney is next, followed by Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth. A Nismo Performance Centre is also planned for Auckland in New Zealand.

Local enthusiasts have been short on factory Nismo metal until now. Australia currently sells just one Nismo model, the Z Nismo sports car, with a manual version on the way to local dealers.

For GT-R owners and Nismo fans, factory-grade restoration support has never been this close to home.
