Mazda has expanded the BT-50 range for 2026 with two new model grades: the returning Thunder and a brand-new Boss. Both are on sale now across Australian dealerships.

Leading the charge is the BT-50 Thunder, which slots in at the top of the range. It's built exclusively on the 3.0L four-cylinder diesel with 4X4 drive, and unlike most factory flagship utes, it comes ready to work. Standard equipment includes a single-hoop bull bar, Lightforce Beast driving lights, reinforced anti-slip side steps, a steel sports bar, and a manual roller tonneau cover. Gloss black door handles and Thunder-specific decals complete the look.

The Boss sits lower in the range, based on the XT spec sheet and adding gloss black door and tailgate handles, gloss black exterior mirrors, a black steel sports bar, tub liner, and side steps. It's a practical package aimed squarely at buyers who want more than the standard workhorse without stretching to XTR money.

Elsewhere in the lineup, XTR, GT and SP Pickup variants gain a 360-degree camera as standard, a handy upgrade for anyone using the tray in tight spots.
Seven colours are available across the range, with a $695 premium applying to metallic, mica and pearl finishes.
For buyers who've been waiting to get factory off-road gear without the aftermarket spend, the Thunder makes a compelling case straight off the lot.
