Honda CR-V goes hybrid-first for 2026 with AWD now in the mix

Honda has overhauled its CR-V lineup for 2026, making hybrid power the dominant drivetrain and offering all-wheel drive on a hybrid CR-V for the first time in Australia. The updated range is on sale now, with deliveries starting soon.
The 2.0-litre e:HEV hybrid system, previously limited to the top-spec RS, now spans four variants. Entry into a hybrid CR-V starts at $49,900 driveaway for the e:HEV X, which is roughly $7,000 less than it cost in 2025. AWD is available on the two top-spec variants, the e:HEV LX and e:HEV RS.
That leaves just two petrol models in the range: the base VTi X and the seven-seat VTi L7.
2026 Honda CR-V pricing (driveaway)
| Variant | Price |
| VTi X | $44,900 |
| e:HEV X | $49,900 |
| e:HEV L | $53,900 |
| VTi L7 | $54,900 |
| e:HEV LX AWD | $58,900 |
| e:HEV RS AWD | $64,400 |
Key specs
- Hybrid: 2.0-litre four-cylinder, 135kW / 335Nm, e-CVT
- Petrol: 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder, 140kW / 240Nm, CVT
- Fuel consumption: 5.5L/100km (FWD hybrid), 5.7L/100km (AWD hybrid)
Tech upgrades apply across the range. A 9.0-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, including Google Maps and Google Play, is now standard on all variants. A 360-degree camera is standard from the e:HEV L up, and auto door locking is fitted across the board.

The flagship e:HEV RS AWD gets the full treatment: head-up display, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel and a 12-speaker Bose system.
One notable omission: seven-seat buyers still can't get hybrid power or AWD. The only seven-seater in the range remains the petrol-only VTi L7.
For buyers who've been waiting for a more accessible hybrid CR-V, 2026 finally delivers it.
