Geely has confirmed three new plug-in hybrid models for Australia in 2027: the Monjaro EM-i mid-size SUV, the Emgrand L EM-i sedan and the Battleship 700 off-road SUV. The Monjaro and Emgrand L arrive in the first half of the year, with the Battleship 700 due in the second half.

All three were displayed at the Everything Electric show in Sydney last week. Australian pricing, exact launch dates and full local specifications are yet to be announced.

The trio makes up half of the six models Geely plans to launch here in 2027. The remaining three have not been named. Geely finished August as Australia's ninth best-selling car brand.

Geely Monjaro EM-i SUV and Emgrand L sedan

Geely Monjaro EM-i

The Monjaro EM-i is a five-seat SUV that pairs a 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors and a battery of up to 40kWh. Geely claims up to 170km of electric-only driving and a combined range of up to 1137km, both on the WLTP cycle. That electric range is well beyond most plug-in hybrid SUVs on sale in Australia.

It will be offered in front and all-wheel drive on 19 or 20-inch wheels with continuously controlled damping and a chassis tuned by Geely Technology Europe.

Geely Monjaro EM-i Interior

Confirmed features include a 15.4-inch touchscreen, a 25.6-inch head-up display, a surround-view camera, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, heated rear seats, and vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle charging with up to 6.6kW of output.

Expect it to line up against mid-size plug-in hybrids such as the Toyota RAV4 PHEV and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.

Geely Emgrand L EM-i

The Emgrand L EM-i gives Geely its first sedan in Australia. It uses a plug-in hybrid system similar to the Starray EM-i SUV, with an 18.4kWh battery, more than 80km of electric range and a combined range of more than 1000km (WLTP). Outputs are quoted at more than 180kW and 250Nm. Its clear target is the Toyota Camry hybrid.

Battleship 700 off-road SUV

Geely Battleship 700

Known in China as the Galaxy Cruiser, the five-seat Battleship 700 will become Geely's local flagship. Overseas, it combines a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine with three electric motors and a 47kWh battery for a combined 830kW. Electric range is up to 170km, though Geely hasn't said which test cycle that figure uses.

China-spec models run 20-inch wheels, 233mm of ground clearance, 800mm wading depth, a differential lock and an on-the-spot turning mode. The cabin gets 12.3- and 15.6-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, a heated and cooled centre console compartment, rear air-conditioning and a 23-speaker sound system.

Geely Battleship 700 Interior

Rivals will include the Denza B8, GWM Tank 500 Hi4-T and Land Rover Defender. Geely says Australian specifications will be confirmed closer to launch.
