Audi has confirmed the A2 e-tron, a new entry-level electric model set to make its world premiere in late 2026. The announcement came from CEO Gernot Döllner at Audi's Annual Media Conference in Ingolstadt on March 17.
The A2 e-tron sits at the bottom of Audi's EV lineup, targeting buyers who want premium electric mobility in a compact, city-friendly package. It's a deliberate callback to the original Audi A2, which made a name for itself in the early 2000s as an efficiency-focused urban runabout.
Production will be based in Ingolstadt, Germany, alongside Audi's other electric models. Beyond that, technical details are thin. No powertrain specs, battery size, range figures, or pricing have been released at this stage.
Döllner described the car as a response to customer demand for everyday-capable electric vehicles, saying the A2 e-tron would make entering the brand's EV lineup easier and more relevant than before. A design sketch has been released showing the car's silhouette, but full styling details remain under wraps until the premiere.
Australian pricing and availability have not been confirmed. Given the late 2026 world premiere, local details are unlikely before 2027 at the earliest.
For buyers priced out of Audi's current EV range, the A2 e-tron could be the most significant thing the brand has announced in years - assuming the specs back it up when they arrive.
