Volkswagen Australia has confirmed the all-new T-Roc will reach local showrooms in early 2027, with mild-hybrid powertrains for the first time. The second-generation small SUV brings sharper styling, a more upmarket cabin and a new generation of driver assistance technology.
Volkswagen first confirmed the second-generation T-Roc for Australia in May, when it said the car would launch in the first half of 2027. Tuesday’s announcement firms up the timing but gives no pricing or specifications.

All-new Volkswagen T-Roc: what’s new
Volkswagen says the new T-Roc has more interior space and practicality than the outgoing model. Highlights include:
- Design: sharper exterior styling, new lighting signatures and a more premium, technology-focused interior
- Technology: Volkswagen’s latest infotainment system and digital cockpit
- Safety: expanded driver assistance, including new-generation Travel Assist features
- Comfort: more comfort and personalisation features across the range
T-Roc mild-hybrid powertrains in Australia
Volkswagen has not confirmed engines for Australia. In Europe, the T-Roc offers a 1.5-litre turbo petrol with 85kW or 110kW, plus a new 2.0-litre with 150kW and all-wheel drive. All are mild-hybrids with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

A mild-hybrid system uses a small 48-volt motor to help the petrol engine and reduce fuel use, but it cannot drive the car on electric power alone. Rivals such as the Toyota Corolla Cross use full hybrid systems.
CarExpert and carsales reported in May that Australia is expected to get the 110kW 1.5-litre first, with the 2.0-litre to follow. Carsales says Volkswagen Australia is also considering a full hybrid after launch. A hotter T-Roc R successor is in development, though CarExpert expects it in Australia in late 2027 or 2028.
Volkswagen will announce Australian pricing, specifications and local equipment at a later date. It says more details will come closer to launch.
