New Nissan Patrol gains 3700kg towing and a far roomier third row

Nissan Australia has revealed how much extra room the all-new Patrol gives its passengers and their gear. The full-size SUV gains space across all three rows, up to 2,749 litres of cargo capacity and a 3700kg braked towing capacity on every grade, a 200kg lift over the outgoing Y62. Australian customer deliveries start in the first quarter of 2027.

"The all-new Patrol's improvements extend beyond its exterior design and powertrain, with particular attention given to the needs of passengers and families," Nissan Oceania Managing Director Steve Milette said.

More room in every row

Front occupants get a new Zero Gravity seat structure using high-damping foam, which Nissan says cuts the vibration that builds up on corrugated roads. Hip, shoulder and legroom improve on all grades, and the driver sits higher for a more commanding view out. Seat massage is offered for the driver on Ti-L+, and for both front occupants on Ti-L Reserve.

The second row uses the same seat structure and now slides. Pushed all the way back, it opens up as much as 250mm more leg space than the Y62, with extra hip and shoulder room as well.

Third-row access has been rethought. A tilt and glide function replaces the old mechanical tumble-fold seat and works even with a child seat fitted in the second row, and a wider sidestep on all grades makes climbing in easier. Once seated, third-row passengers get 75mm more hip room, 66mm more knee room, 84mm more heel gap for the outboard seats and up to 253mm more legroom with the second row slid forward. A flatter floor back there helps three adults sit properly rather than perching. Ti-L Reserve extends its quilted trim to the upper third-row seatbacks.

Cargo capacity by seating configuration

Figures are measured to the US SAE method and may vary by grade. Folding both rows leaves a near-flat floor, and the adaptive air suspension on PRO-4X and Ti-L Reserve lowers the vehicle to make loading easier.

Towing gear across the range

Every grade is rated to tow 3700kg braked with a genuine Nissan towbar, which puts the Patrol 200kg clear of the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series on paper. Tow tongue and towball configurations are sold as at-cost accessories, including one that supports the full 3700kg rating.

Trailer Blind Spot Warning joins Trailer Sway Control as standard across the range for the first time. PRO-4X and Ti-L Reserve add an electric trailer brake controller and Trailer Docking Support, which lines the towbar up with the coupling so you are not climbing in and out to check.
