Key takeaways

  • Arrives early 2027 in petrol S ALL4 and electric SE ALL4 form
  • Pricing and full Australian specification are yet to be announced
  • Local cars miss the overseas lift, all-terrain tyres and 2000kg towing

Mini will launch the Countryman Untamed Edition in Australia in early 2027, offering the outdoors-themed special edition on the petrol Countryman S ALL4 and electric SE ALL4. Local cars get the rugged styling and bespoke cabin, but not the suspension lift and all-terrain tyres fitted in some overseas markets.

Production starts at BMW Group Plant Leipzig in November 2026. Pricing, final specification and arrival timing will be confirmed closer to launch.

What Australia misses out on

Overseas, the Untamed Edition is pitched as a more capable Countryman. North American cars get a 15mm suspension lift across every powertrain, raising ground clearance by 19mm overall, while Europe offers the lift on electric versions only.

North America also gets Pirelli Scorpion all-terrain tyres as standard, with Europe offering them as an option. The ABS, stability control and steering have been retuned to suit the taller ride and chunkier tyres. Mini has also developed a roof-top tent with Italian firm Autohome and camping gear with Helinox.

None of that hardware is part of the Australian package. Braked towing stays at 1500kg for the S ALL4 and 1200kg for the SE ALL4, while petrol versions in some markets are rated to 2000kg.

That makes the local Untamed Edition a styling and trim pack on the existing all-wheel-drive Countryman rather than a more off-road-capable version. Other markets also offer it on front-drive variants, but Australia gets the two ALL4 models only.

It follows the Paul Smith Edition and Cooper Oxford Edition as Mini’s latest special edition for Australia, and lines up against premium small SUVs such as the BMW X1, which shares its underpinnings, and the Volvo XC40.

What the Untamed Edition adds

  • Wheels: 19-inch five-spoke “Untamed Edition Spoke” alloys styled after classic utility wheels, with Dark Steel centre caps
  • Exterior: grille with vertical inserts and a Dark Steel surround, new side sills, front and rear underbody protection, new rear diffuser and textured matte black film on the wheel arches, sills and bonnet to guard against stone chips
  • Paint: exclusive Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue and matte Frozen Nomad Blue, the first matte paint in a series-production Mini, plus Nanuq White and Midnight Black, with a white or black roof
  • Badging: Dark Steel badges and lettering, plus an Untamed logo with a mountain motif on the C-pillar
  • Seats: Nightshade Blue sports seats in perforated Vescin synthetic upholstery with knitted shoulder and headrest sections and Cornflower Blue piping
  • Cabin trim: grey and blue knitted dashboard and door trim, Dark Steel accents in place of silver, Cornflower Blue steering wheel details and a redesigned centre console box with elastic straps
  • Practicality: rubber floor mats and a matching cargo mat

Mini Australia will confirm pricing and arrival timing before the early 2027 launch. With the mechanical upgrades off the table locally, the key figure to watch is how much the Untamed Edition costs over a standard S ALL4 and SE ALL4.
