Engine and performance
| Spec | S450 | S580 L |
| Engine | 3.0-litre turbo inline-six | 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 |
| Power | 280kW | 395kW |
| Torque | 560Nm (600Nm overboost) | 750Nm |
| 0-100km/h | 4.9 seconds | 4.0 seconds |
The S450 keeps its 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six but gains revised fuel injection and a higher compression ratio. Power holds at 280kW, torque climbs from 500Nm to 560Nm, and an overboost function briefly lifts that to 600Nm. A 48-volt mild-hybrid adds a 17kW boost under acceleration.
The bigger news sits under the S580 L's bonnet. Its new-generation M177 Evo V8 adopts a flat-plane crankshaft and improved turbochargers, cutting the 0-100km/h sprint from 4.4 to 4.0 seconds. Outputs jump from 370kW/700Nm to 395kW/750Nm.
Both variants pair a nine-speed automatic with all-wheel drive, rear-axle steering and adaptive air suspension.
Styling and cabin tech
Every Australian S-Class now wears the AMG Line package as standard, with a grille 20% larger and lit by an illuminated surround. New Digital Light headlights add star-shaped elements and throw high beams up to 600m. Fresh 20-inch alloys in Himalaya grey finish the look.

Inside, the 14.4-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch driver display run new MB.OS software with over-the-air updates and a more natural voice assistant. Buyers can also option heated front seatbelts for the first time.

S-Class buyers get a sharper V8 and a fresh cabin, but they'll pay up to $9,973 more than they would have a year ago.
