Ford has confirmed the 2027 Ford Bronco Basecamp for Australia and New Zealand, with local arrivals due in the second half of 2027.

It is the first electrified Bronco and the first one built as a camper rather than a rock crawler. Instead of the ladder-frame hardware the Bronco name usually implies, Basecamp uses a monocoque platform and a range-extender hybrid drivetrain.

The camping gear is integrated into the vehicle from the factory. An electric pop-up lift roof raises headroom and opens the cabin to the air at the press of a button, though it is standard only on the Outer Banks model.

The interior folds into a sleeping space and Ford will sell a full-length inflatable mattress as an accessory so owners do not have to unload the boot to make a bed.

There is also a 7.5-litre heated and cooled console bin, again reserved for Outer Banks, plus a Wild Kitchen in the rear swing gate with a fold-down prep table.

Two electric motors do the driving, fed by a usable 49kWh battery, while a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine works purely as an on-board generator. It never drives the wheels.

Parked up, the Basecamp becomes a generator of its own, with up to 6.6kW of Pro Power Onboard for induction cooktops, camp lights, camera gear and laptops.
