Key takeaways
- 2027 Audi Q9 confirmed as the brand's largest ever SUV
- Powered doors and dimmable panoramic roof are Audi firsts
- Full reveal in late July, overseas sales Q4 2026
Audi has shown the cabin of its upcoming Q9, the brand's largest ever SUV and incoming new flagship. The 2027 Audi Q9 sits above the Q7 and Q8 in the Audi range with up to seven seats, powered doors and a tech-heavy interior. A full reveal lands in late July, with overseas showrooms expecting cars in the fourth quarter of 2026.
A new flagship for Audi

The Q9 replaces the A8 sedan as Audi's range topper. It is aimed primarily at North American and Chinese buyers who want a full-size SUV with the larger footprint giving Audi designers more room to layer premium materials and tech.
Engine details remain under wraps. Expect electrified V8 power based on Audi's recent product direction, with plug-in hybrid options likely to follow.
Powered doors and a smart panoramic roof
This is the first Audi to offer fully powered doors. Drivers can open and close them using the handle, an interior button, the touchscreen, the key fob, the myAudi app, the brake pedal, or by buckling the seatbelt. Built-in sensors stop the doors striking pedestrians, cyclists, or nearby obstacles.

Overhead, a panoramic glass roof spans most of the cabin as standard. Buyers can option a version with individually adjustable panels that switch between transparent and opaque, similar to the system on the Porsche Taycan. The glass blocks more than 99% of UV radiation and darkens automatically when the car is parked.
Eighty-four LEDs sit around the roof's edge, with 30 colour options or a setting that follows the drive mode.
Seven seats or six captain's chairs
The Q9 comes with three rows of seats as standard. The default layout seats seven, with a three-place bench in the middle row that takes three child seat anchors. Buyers who do not need the extra capacity can swap the bench for two heated, ventilated, and electrically adjustable captain's chairs.

Front-row occupants get optional massage, ventilation, and heated seats. The base Bang & Olufsen system uses 22 speakers and more than 1,300 watts. Stepping up to the 4D premium system adds transducers in the seats that pulse with the bass, plus ambient lighting that shifts to match the album art of the playing track.
Audi has also responded to criticism over recent cabin quality. The Q9 dials back glossy black plastic in favour of matte surfaces, new wood trims, and alpaca wool upholstery.
Audi Australia has not confirmed plans for the Q9 locally. The Q7 and Q8 are both sold here, so a flagship slot is a logical fit for the brand. Local pricing, timing and specification all remain to be announced.
