Key takeaways
- Audi Q4 e-tron returns for 2027 with major upgrades
- Up to 592km WLTP range from new Sportback variant
- First Audi EV with V2L and V2H bidirectional charging
The 2027 Audi Q4 e-tron has been revealed with a redesigned interior, longer driving range and the brand's first ever bidirectional charging system. The updated electric crossover returns as both an SUV and a sleeker Sportback, with sharper styling, more efficient motors and a thoroughly modernised cabin. It goes on sale in Europe from May 2026, but Australian timing remains unconfirmed.

New cabin loses buttons but gains screens
The most visible change sits inside. Audi has scrapped the old dashboard for a cleaner layout heavily influenced by the new A5 and A6 with a curved panel housing an 11.9-inch instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen. Buyers can also option a 12-inch passenger display which Audi claims is the largest passenger screen it has ever fitted.

The trade-off is the removal of the physical climate control buttons. All temperature and ventilation functions now live within the touchscreen, with a permanent climate strip taking up part of the new infotainment screen. A redesigned centre console replaces the old floating unit, adding two cooled wireless charging pads, cupholders and a shortcut pad for media controls.
ChatGPT is now integrated into the Audi assistant voice control, and the system runs on Android Automotive OS. An optional augmented reality head-up display projects navigation arrows and alerts onto the windscreen, appearing to float around 10 metres ahead of the driver.
2027 Audi Q4 e-tron range and performance

Audi has retired the old 35, 40, 45 and 50 model badges in favour of a new naming structure. All four drivetrains feature a more efficient APP350 rear motor, upgraded power electronics and a new low-friction transmission, with overall efficiency improving by around 10 per cent. WLTP range is up by 16 to 32 kilometres depending on the variant.
| Variant | Power | 0-100km/h | Battery (net) | Range (SUV) | Range (Sportback) | Max DC charge |
| Q4 e-tron | 150kW | 8.1s | 59kWh | 440km | 451km | 160kW |
| Q4 e-tron performance | 210kW | 6.6s | 77kWh | 578km | 592km | 165kW |
| Q4 e-tron quattro | 220kW | 6.2s | 77kWh | 558km | 573km | 165kW |
| Q4 e-tron quattro performance | 250kW | 5.4s | 77kWh | 541km | 554km | 185kW |
Trailer load on quattro models climbs by 400kg to 1,800kg, and the boot still swallows 515 litres, or 1,487 litres with the rear seats folded.
Bidirectional charging is an Audi first
The 2027 Audi Q4 e-tron is the first Audi to support both Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) charging. V2L lets the car run external appliances through a domestic power socket in the boot, delivering up to 2.3kW of continuous power. V2H allows the high-voltage battery to feed energy back into the home, ideal for storing surplus solar generation.
Maximum DC charging on the larger 77kWh net battery rises from 175kW to 185kW, which means a 10 to 80 per cent top-up takes just 27 minutes at a fast charger.
2027 Audi Q4 e-tron Australian release
Audi Australia is yet to confirm whether or when the facelifted Q4 e-tron will reach local showrooms. European orders open in May 2026, with deliveries beginning later in the year. German pricing starts at €47,500 (around AU$77,400) for the base SUV and tops out at €59,000 (around AU$96,200) for the quattro performance variant, with the Sportback body costing €1,950 (around AU$3,180) more across the range. Australian pricing will likely differ once local taxes, duties and specification are factored in.
Locally the current Q4 e-tron competes with the Tesla Model Y, BMW iX1 and Mercedes-Benz EQA. For Australian buyers, the updated Q4 e-tron sharpens an already strong electric crossover, but the wait for local confirmation continues.
