What you get for the money
The GT is generously equipped at its price point. Standard kit includes a 26.45-inch central touchscreen, a 50-inch head-up display, 23-speaker audio, panoramic glass roof, heated and ventilated front seats, tri-zone climate with air purification, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a hands-free power tailgate. A 360-degree camera with see-through view is also standard.

Step up to the $56,990 Azami and you add 21-inch alloys, digital side mirrors, and a digital interior mirror. Both grades support the Mazda EV app which allows remote climate, lock, window and tracking functions via smartphone.
How it compares
At $53,990, the CX-6e arrives cheaper than the Tesla Model Y (from $58,900), Zeekr 7X (from $57,900), Toyota bZ4X (from $55,990) and BYD Sealion 7 (from $54,990). Its 484km WLTP range also exceeds all four rivals at their base price.
Built in China by the Changan Mazda joint venture, the CX-6e shares its platform with the Deepal S07 and is related to the Mazda 6e sedan. It measures 4,850mm long on a 2,902mm wheelbase, putting it closer to large SUV territory than its "mid-size" billing suggests.
Mazda is backing the launch with a strong pre-order offer: the first 1,000 GT buyers receive a complimentary upgrade to the Azami. The same deal on the 6e sedan sold out all 300 units within two weeks.
A new exclusive colour, Nightfall Violet Mica, headlines a seven-shade palette.
For buyers after a well-priced electric SUV with genuine range and a full features list, the CX-6e looks hard to dismiss on paper.
